South African batsman Hashim Amla has announced his retirement from international cricket. However, Amla will continue to play domestic cricket. Cricket South Africa gave this information on Twitter.

South African batsman Hashim Amla has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect. Amla will however continue to play for domestic cricket and domestic T20 leagues. Amla has scored 9282 runs for South Africa in 124 Tests. He is the only batsman to score a triple century in Test cricket for South Africa. He has scored 8113 runs in 181 ODIs for South Africa.
Amla, 36, made her Test debut against India in Kolkata in December 2004. He played his last Test match against Sri Lanka in Port Elizabeth in February this year. Apart from this, he made his ODI debut in 2008 against Bangladesh in Chittagong. He played his last ODI against Sri Lanka at Chester Lee Street in January this year. In his 15-year career, he played 349 international matches and scored more than 18000 runs.
